Frequently Asked Questions

All support questions will be answered here.  If you have a question that’s not covered in our tutorials, please use the Contact Us page to email your question.  We will post the answer here.

1.  I am using Dream Sight Diary Database Version 2.  Will Dream Sight Diary Database Version 3 overwrite my files?

You can download and install Dream Sight Diary Database Version 3 and the Microsoft Access 2007 Runtime program.  It will not overwrite your files.  Version 2 installed the Database file in the following folder path.  You can navigate to it through My Computer.

C: Drive
Program Files
Dream Network
Database.

It’s always a good idea to backup the database folder if you don’t want to loose your database of dreams.

2.   Is Dream Sight Diary Database Version 3 an upgrade?  Will it upgrade my Version 2 installation?

No, Dream Sight Diary Database Version 3 is a fresh installation.  You can start a whole new Dream Journal with Version 3.   Remember that with Version 2 you could send all of your Dreams to a Word Processing file.  If you want to cut and paste some of those dreams into Version 3 so you can work through the analysis questions, that is probably the easiest way.

3.  Can I import my Dream Sight Diary Version 2 Dream Records into Version 3?

This is something we haven’t looked into yet.  We have been fully focused on making a new version for release.  When we work out the easiest way to do it and have tested it thoroughly, we’ll post a help file here.  For the moment, we’d appreciate your patience on this issue.  Also see Question 2 above for cutting and pasting records to the new version.

4.   I have a friend who wants to use Dream Sight Diary Database but he/she does not have internet access.  Can they still use it?

Yes, they can still use it, however, all the tutorials and help files for DSDDV3 are on our website, so you might like to suggest to them that they should visit a library or friend’s computer to access the Help and Tutorials files.

5.  Can I distribute Dream Sight Diary Database Version 3?

Yes, you can burn the Dream Sight Diary Database Version 3 file called dsddv3.accdr and the Microsoft Access Runtime program to a disc and share it with your friends and family.   Just make sure you direct people to our website so they can access the help and tutorial files.  If you are recommending this program to other users, make sure you check our Home Page “What You Need To Know” before you install it on their computer.  They may have different software and programs than you do, which may conflict with DSDD.

6.  I am an Access expert.  Can I modify Dream Sight Diary Database Version 3?

You can make changes for personal use only.    If you want to add new features, or reports, the program is yours to modify how you wish.   Please note however, if you modify the program, we cannot provide support.  Dream Sight Diary Database’s file extension ends with .accdr to make it open in Runtime mode.  Try changing the file extension to .accdb to modify it.  If that doesn’t work, email us.  We can zip and send the original file to you.

If you modify the program, you cannot sell it or redistribute it, or remove the artwork, images or links to Jane Teresa Anderson’s website or this website.  The program is Copyrighted.  We are very happy for Access experts to make changes for their own use only.

If you’ve made changes you think other users will enjoy, please email us.  We’d love to hear what you’ve done and consider your design features for future versions.

7.  Is Dream Sight Diary available on Disk?

At this time, we are not creating an installation disk, however, we may do this in the future.  Please contact us if you want to be notified when it’s available.

8.  I have Dream Sight Diary Version 2.  Why do I need to download and install Version 3?

Dream Sight Diary Database Version 2 will not work on a computer that has Micrsosoft Access 2007 installed on a Micrsosoft Vista Operating System.  Version 2 only seems to work flawlessly on Vista if Access 2007 is not installed.

Version 2 will continue to work on Windows XP.

Version 3 has all new analysis questions, making it easier for you to interpret and understand your dreams, and is also compatible with Vista and Access 2007.

9.  I have a Mac.  Can I install Dream Sight Diary Database?

The short answer is yes. The longer answer is “it’s a bit more complicated”.  I’ve created this Mac page for Mac Users.  Please read it as there are ways to get Dream Sight Diary Database working on a Mac.
